I'm so glad you are talking about this. Your story is alot like mine. I'm an Italian girl who came from a family of big people. No matter how hard I tried I could never lose weight. I was so tired of being the fat friend, fat cousin, fat wife so finally I had my surgery last August. I had friends call me a cheater. That really hurt! What they don't realize is LapBand is a tool, that's all! I STILL have to do the work and it's not easy. So BRAVO to you Lauren for getting it done now while you are in your 20's. By doing this you will avoid a lifetime of bad health and missing out on things in life due to low energy, confidence, etc. I'm so happy for you!!!

Her quotes do not sound healthy at all. It shows she has little self control. From what's seen on the show and what is said here, she needs more psychotherapy than workout. Overeating or that addictive relationship with food is always more to do with some personal issue, than the weight itself. Her deal is more about pressure and self-image, not really about health or even weight. She compared herself to the men in her family and that is not realistic. Plus, she makes being overwieght the worst of mistakes or "weights" one can carry. With will power, excercise and healthy eating she would have achived her weight loss, being HEALTHY, she was not obese for a lap band...I have always admired Caroline, but in this topic I don't agree with her advice to her daughter....let's see if that weight isn't back in a couple of months...

While Lauren looks great, and I'm happy for her- it's not good nutrition to exclude any food groups, such as sugar and carbs and fat.

One it is very hard to loss weight when there food around everywere all the time. So she had help god bless her. You were beautiful before and you still are. Keep up the great job. Wish you the best.

Yes she looks great too bad she could not do this on her own like many other can and have done. She has joined every one else with the quick fix. Too bad she was a "normal" person trying to diet and better herself but gave into the peer pressure, but since they had revealed that her father had also had this surgery its not a surprise. Now will she make her boyfriend get the surgery also - - is he good enough for her any more?? Thanks for not letting a normal person follow and be inspired by your journey - - -you could of lost the weight doing what you are doing now!

I do not understand how being 30 pounds overweight warrants having major bariatric surgery. As a physician it makes me very angry that this drastic Measure was taken in a patient who does not meet the criteria of morbid obesity. While Lauren looks beautiful if she would have been hitting the gym for two hours and eating well, she would've lost 30 pounds on her own. Unfortunately I think this young woman was obsessed with the idea of being skinny at any costs. Lap band is not meant to be a check on someone's self control. It is a life saving procedure for people suffering from extreme obesity and related health problems. Shame on the doctor who performed this surgery.

Lap Band is a life long decision to "controlled eating" it should not be considered lightly. I applaud her for such a serious decision. But others need to realize that it is a drastic lifestyle change and Lauren has a huge road ahead of her.

I worked for bariatric surgeons and I applaud you for having the strength to ask for help. I would also advise you to stay on target with working out and eating right. I've seen so many lap banders over eat their bands, and then go for either gastric sleeves, or gastric bypass, or tighten the band more and more.

Also, please know you are beautiful inside and out and I hope you did it for your health. I find it very sad that those brothers of yours made snide comments at your expense. I felt no love there and felt so bad for you.
