Jevon 'Vawn' Sims

Vawn clarifies his point-of-view and shares what he really thinks about Emily and Tribble.

on Oct 27, 20130

This might be the episode that was the most personal to ME. Watching how Africa was affected and her feelings made me feel a certain kind of way. Although we aren't in a committed relationship, as my friend how she feels is important to me because I finally realized that her saying she was cool with something and experiencing something were two totally different things.

I also learned inside of friendships there are major gray areas. You have to communicate very clearly to understand each other and grow. When she came to me her approach was aggressive and rude so my response was a reaction to how she delivered it. Everything is about how you communicate, even at your most vulnerable moment. Although I was upset I had to put myself in her shoes. When I saw the tears come down her face it changed my delivery because one thing I hate is to see is a woman cry. At that very moment I knew that I had to relay to her that our friendship was important to me and that I was sorry. My apology came from my heart.

Vawn you are disgusting and a poor excuse for a man....thank you for representing for the typical man...so you are saying that you respect your woman because you are excusing not having a monogamous relationship... get over yourself!!! look how beautiful mama africa is...

i love how alex's friend put her in her place though

Wow  wow wow Mr Vawn (smh) Im very late  commenting as I am  just catching up on this show.  My first comment  is in regards to your honesty especially when it comes to being  a role model. At Africas last show you had the opportunity to be honest and show your integrity and respect for her when she asked about your disappearing act during her show, but you chose  not to be truthful. So that means you pick and choose honesty when it benefits you...hmmm. Then delving into your full disclosure  with all women, this is fine and something that more men should do, however, the KEY element you are missing is that it's important to tell women upfront that you do not desire a committed relationship. THAT is what makes the full disclosure thing work where noone gets hurt. And lastly it would be great if next time you include women  on the panel.

Hes gross and a sad excuse for a man. Way to rep for the African American men out there......

BoricuaBlueEyes

Seriously?  It took "tears" in Africa's eyes to realize kissing her then snaking out the back with a skank would hurt?  Does this guy really believe the shiz he peddles?  When a dude is middle-aged, still matching his sneakers with his shirt, and stuck in the 90's rockin' a bald head, no doubt he's a joke but...

"G.P.S. The Guided Personal System that's tailored made for U."

"U either a Bad Pick or a Bad Picker.  Which one are U?"

"Are U a Chicken or a Pig?"

"I'd Rather Fall in Respect than to Fall in Love."

Really!? I'm sure the "graphic designer" had to deal with 'garbage in, garbage out,' but Yawn needs to get Hooked On Phonics!  Hearing him constantly mangle the English language is one thing, but seeing the grammar/spelling errors all over the place was enough to make baby Jeezus cry.

Vawn you are all looks and no substance, to be honest you aren't that attractive to me anymore. You are too old to behave the way you did at the forum. Maybe Tribble should have not gone up front and taken the mike, but you should have let him speak his peace. You were definitely the aggressor. You took off your jacket and wanted to fight and then you ran up behind Tribble and smacked him in the back of his head like a punk. Tribble apologized even though you were both wrong. You could have also apologized and you could have shaken his hand like a real man. You have a lot of growing to do. Someday I believe you'll be a better man and you'll step up and stop playing women. At your age you should be tired of that.

Vawn is absolutely NOTHING more than that guy who talks a lot but says very little. He uses a lot of words (incorrectly, I might add), and likes to throw around a lot of shiny theories -- but everything is hollow.  There's no depth. He's a classic BSer who's been able to skate by in life because apparently no one thought he was worth correcting. Never an honest moment, never any vulnerability or admission of wrong doing ... the amount of insecurity in this middle aged man is actually staggering. And if/when he find a woman that gets and holds his attention, that he deems "worthy" he will quickly find himself heartbroken because who he has allowed himself to be is not good enough for a real relationship.

You know that woman who never has a long term boyfriend or relationship, "gets around", lot of meaningless interaction .. but still loves to give advice to her friends? Yeah, that's Vawn. He's basically the male equivalent. And it's just as sad.

I dont care for Vawn's flagrant playboy mentality... BUT, I think it was wrong for Tribble to standoff with Vawn, at Vawn's event in front of everyone.  That was rude and thats why Tribble ended up apologizing.  Emily seems to be in love with Vawn because she's seems way too interested in what he says and does.  Of course Africa would support Vawn.. she's one his fools on Vawns list of "friends w/benefits".  So, when Vawn gets with another chick.. why would Africa get mad?  She's just "another chick" to Vawn as well..

Vawn Africa lied her ass off for you and the she had to pull the race card because that was all that she had left. You attacked Tribble frist not the other way around. As far as respect goes I have more respect for my dog because when he is screwing anything coming and going I can at least say well that is what happens when an animal does not have the sense to be selective.

onesmartcookie39
onesmartcookie39

So you cheap shot Tribble in the back of the head. And this makes you a strong man how? You are adding to the statistics and the problem. The only reason why you didn't want to hear Tribble speak because he was the only man in that room standing up for what was right and standing up for how women are treated. I don't know how anyone could find you attractive.

KijaP

I love how Vawn stands up and says you can do anything so long as you are honest, and then Emily quotes back exactly what he said a few nights earlier and he lies to the entire crowd and says he never said it. Some honesty.

I should've known better than to believe Africa was a woman of class and intelligence.  She's a disappointment that turned out to be typical and no different than the rest; lacking in judgment/self-esteem and stupidly making the same mistakes over and over! I lost the last bit of respect I could have had when she ate the pile of sh!+ Yawn fed her then kissed him.  Eeeeeeeeew

The word is "act," not "ack," but since he constanly mangles the English language and is "emotionally, spiritually, loyalty" incapable of properly using adjectives and nouns, it's a fact Yawn paid somebody to write/edit his little pamphlet.

What can a guy who has contributed one more boy to the 75% born out-of-wedlock statistic, sleeps around, and never had a successful and committed long-term relationship teach anyone about relationships?  The answer is...not-a-d@mn!...but for someone who fancies himself as thinking "out of the box," I'm still trying to figure out exactly what makes Yawn different from countless other funny-looking, inarticulate dudes with no morals.

Were Yawn or his low-rent panel either good-looking, fine, or interesting, the shtick would simply be amusing, but their bootleg ghetto psychology is pathetically astounding. These losers are trying to convince women that they've no options!

Their payoff is women feeling they've no choice but to accept however a low-life behaves (because all men cheat), and being with him is a privilege because at least he's "honest."

This isn't a win-win situation; it's a win-lose.  Any chick that is thirsty and desperate enough to fall for this will lose while the scumbag reaps all benefits.  They win because, since they were "honest" upfront, they've no accountability and don't have to tell thirsty-chick where they are, what they're doing, where they're going, when they'll see them again back etc.  Thirsy-chick gets disrespected, mistreated and played on top of a nasty dose of something with a long name.

Vawn, you think you make perfect sense but what it is, is every man's dream, having your cake and eat it too. My recommendations is:  you're not ready for a female relationship, your heartless, cold and a real joke. The only relationship you need right now is "rosie, rosie palm!!! That will give you what you need. No back talk, no commitment, always there for you!! Enjoy!

I heard you telling your son in the previous episode that haters are always going to try to put you down, but you should never resort to putting your hands on someone(or something along those lines). Your actions in this episode completely negated your advise to your son. Don't you feel like you set a bad example for him reacting that way to Tribble?

You're obviously are a handsome, influential man in the community, but your reaction to Tribble in this freely communicating forum was out of control. I was looking forward to you telling the viewers that you handled the situation wrong, but it still seems you don't feel that way.

Glamourpuss
Glamourpuss

You completely tried to turn that situation around with Africa and tried to say that she had an attitude with you and all this other BS because you knew you were wrong and messed up when you came to their rehearsal, and of course she allowed you to do that. If anything, you were the one with the attitude and were disrespectful to her the whole time.

Also, you were completely wrong in that situation with Tribble, and you and a couple of your panel members were insulting and patronizing to Emily trying to claim that "she didn't understand what you were saying" and that "it was going over her head." While Tribble should've waited to be called on to make his comments, you quickly became hostile and aggressive by trying to censor him and snatch the mic from him and then continually attacking him even afterwards just because you didn't like him standing up and saying what he did.

I was really glad that Tribble had the balls to stand up and say what he did, and that he stood his ground against you. You were completely wrong to get physical with him and to and I think you also owe Tribble and Emily an apology because he wasn't the only one in the wrong.

Lastly, you and Africa deserve each other because more and more she's showing her true colors as well.

Hello Vawn,  Though I don't agree with how you roll Vawn, I do appreciate your value on honesty.  It is the choice of the women you want to deal with whether or not they want to deal with your truth and I get it.  I also get what so many seem to fail to get which is the unfortunate reality that a lot of women (or men when it comes to loose women) deal with that same truth in their "monogamous" relationships without knowing it is their partner's truth.  That's what cheating is and you don't go for that which is cool.  The event was off-the-hook in terms of how it was hijacked by Tribble.  You are correct.  Emily and Tribble did not come with an open mind.  And I thought Emily sounded like she was in grade school taking pot-shots at your messaging boards.  She made herself look even younger than she clearly is.  But she sounds real young throughout all of the episodes of the show.  Her owning and running her own business seems to make her believe she's very adult, but she is verrrrrry immature.  WHEW!  She can stand strong on her beliefs.  Nothing wrong with that and they are very honorable.  But as she grows up, she will learn the only person she can control is herself and pray that she gets a man that not only values her, but is honest with her in good times and bad.  I am soooo glad you let crazy, immature Alex go.  She's a college girl (keyword- girl) and it shows.  Not a good look for a grown man.  If you're just having fun, that's cool.  But you really should value yourself a lot more-- enough to surround yourself with women.  Leave the little girls to little boys.  They play little girl games, roll with little girl mentalities, have little girl tantrums, and bring you little girl problems-- all of which Alex displayed in full effect throughout the season and in this episode as well.  They are all like that because they haven't grown up yet.  It's a badddd side-effect to "fun".  You don't need that nonsense in your life.  If you're not ready to fully enjoy one woman and all that she can offer while giving her all that you can offer, you still have a whole lot of options outside of the little girls.  For someone who is clearly doing well and on the rise, upgrading your life, upgrade all aspects.   Maybe that will lead you to Africa...  ;-)   Good luck either way with your self-upgrade and God bless!

econsolaconnie.nevels
econsolaconnie.nevels

Oh Yawn!  You are such an idiot! I can't believe Africa and Alex are actually fighting over and for you.  And by the way, you really did not do your self any favors by appearing on Bethenney's Show!  If I were you, I would get a  better command of your grammar and the English language in general before ever appearing on another talk show!  You were out of your verbal element and it showed!  I am not going to waste my time commenting on the sissy move you made by hitting Tribble in the back of the head.....with all of your so called "honesty," you certainly lose your cool when  the shoe is on the other foot!  And with all the down low brothers and disease floating around Atlanta....those stupid girls should really run like hell away from you!

You are a real sad case....what is the purpose of calling out Tribble and Emily? You were so wrong to let your panel speak disrespectfully to her and you never apologied for your gangsta behavior. Like I said - real sad case so keep on being you.

I have to say that Vawn you are so full of yourself and you are a clown. Trying to be a better person, really, check that. You are a man who already has a son... So basically all you are doing is wanting several women to jump to when needed. So question, if a woman did the same thing that you are doing and saying... How would you feel, probably used, not good enough, etc... I can go on and on. At least Tribble has the balls to step up and be a man... What's your excuse...

You did say that you can't imagine just being with one woman for the rest of your life. So tell me who benefits from that? And by the way you slapped Tribble first so stop the poor me. You remind me of a radio host that sounded just like you and had the same old tired thoughts. Check your inside!!

Tribble was wrong no doubt about it, but you were definitly the violent one. You not only constantly went after him, you threathren the security guard as well. I think that anyone that has to lie to get with someone is pathetic. So, I can say that I respect you for telling women ahead of time where you stand with relationships, but I don't feel that it is right to sleep with every women that is okay with it. It is too many diseases out here that you can get just from kissing.

rosyposy

Actually, I agree with some of what you are saying.  You are being brutally honest.  There are actually bimbos with no brains and low self-esteem out there who are brainless enough to sleep with someone like you.  Some idiot women even think they can change someone like you and make you fall in love with only them.  Then there are the absolute sluts who would sleep with anyone.  These are the women you will spend your nights with.  Then there are the smart, savy women who will never waste their time on someone like you.  To each their own.

taniasveta

I figured out Vawn...he already has a son. so building a family is not needed for him...he wants to full around...and loving someone is not a good thing for him right now. SO, at least he is honest...to a degree outsource. he may be 40...but he is acting like a 60-years old who already contributed to family and ready to run around with pants down. He should not be inviting young chicks for date who are looking for life-to-build. He should not touch Alex...she is too young. one thing he is roght about...great many men after 40 and single do just that ...fool around. white males are no different.

vawn yeah your a dog but your right these girls know your a dog and still invest their feelings in you that's their stupidity , stop wearing shades at night that went out with the 90's so dumb, the worst thing you did was that you counseled your son about fighting and then you went an attacked tribble not once but 3 times on national tv   for that you should feel less of a man as a father .

lisa2

Let be honest here. Vawn is a dog and he latched himself onto Africa because he believed she was the "star" of this show and Vawn saw this as an opportunity to get some extra camera time.

He soon realized that Africa was thirsty and a little desperate and took full advantage of it by asking her out, for dinner and a booty call.  Imagine his surprise and arrogance when a seemingly intelligent and well spoken  female bought the smooth crappy lines that he was selling.

Vawn realized he could manipulate Africa and get her to do what he wanted, so he played the "I'm honest" card and see if she would buy it.  That way, he could do whatever he wanted to with other females and keep her on a string.

Africa bought it and even defended his crap.   What a sad pathetic story.

Good Lord, from the fake name ('Vawn"...really??), to the insecure need to try to look cool all the time, (someone please, please, please tell this man that lurching around in sunglasses after dark doesn't look cool...you just look stupid and desperately trying too hard), this guy is filled with self delusion.  'Vawn" is a very pretty man.  Very good looking.  No doubt about that.  But it all goes out the window the minute he opens his poorly informed mouth.  Where did he learn that honesty forgives all bad behavior?  Being 'honest' about all the people you're sleeping with just makes you an honest asshole, but you're still an asshole.

I am constantly amazed at what black women will put up with, when they all deserve so much better.

Vawn you try to put a spin on all of your blogs to make yourself seem better than you are. You, without a doubt, were the aggressor in the altercation with Tribble. And it's sad that Africa is soo caught up in you until she is in denial of the kind of guy that you are. After watching the last two episodes, I really think that you have a thing for Alex, because for one thing, you keep saying things like you want to know if she is for real, etc,. Actually you two are more compatible, because both of you are full of games and you two would feed off of each other's big egos.

@BoricuaBlueEyes LOL @ you calling Vawn "Yawn".. kudos to you.  I love your perspective.  Just because someone's "honest" about something.. doesnt mean they are not accountable.  It's like me saying, "Hey, I'm thief, and thats just what I do... accept it!".  When you found out some of your things come up missing, and I was the one that stole it... @1_QUEEN_B dead on. He got tough when there were people between them. You didn't look like you wanted to fight when you were face to face. Tribble should have waited his turn, but your so called Dias should have let him talk. That guy was saying all men cheat. Can anyone really be so stupid as to believe that? Brother needs to look in the mirror. OPEN FORUM was ok until people started agreeing with Tribble. Weak sauce. Why did you keep saying don't touch me. He wanted the mic that's all.
